Erraid lies off the south west tip of the Ross of Mull. A few miles drive from Fionnphort. For an hour or two either side of low water, it is linked to the Ross of Mull by a broad expanse of sand. Balfour's Bay is named after Robert Louis Stevensons character, David Balfour, who is shipwrecked and comes ashore on the south coast of Erraid.
