Bandar Torkaman, Golestan Province, IranMore information:
Golestān Province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran, located in the north-east of the country, east of the Caspian Sea. Its population of 1.7 million includes 43% Persians and 33% Turkmens. The latter live in the north of the province; they used to be nomadic people and follow the Hanafi school of Sunni interpretation. As Monday is market day in Bandar Torkaman and many Turkmen people travel to town on that occasion, it is also the ideal day to organize a wedding. Turkmen people wear their colourful traditional clothes and celebrate all day long both in houses and outside on the street.
