The house, is Victorian, designed by Sir Ernest George, and built between 1888 and 1892. It is particularly associated with being the childhood home of the Mitford sisters, and Nancy based parts of her novel 'Love in a Cold Climate' on the house Surrounding Batsford House is an extensive 5, 000 acre estate, which also includes an arboretum.
