The body of a 15-year-old boy has been recovered from a river in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. The body, believed to be that of a boy who went missing while swimming on Friday, was retrieved from the River Ivel, near the weir at Mill Lane, Biggleswade. A search was launched for the boy about 19:45 BST on Friday after a call from a member of the public. Specially trained fire fighters in dry suits entered the water using rescue sleds and tethered lines to search the waters of the River Ivel into the night, but unfortunately were unable to locate the youth. The search was suspended at 10.30pm, but fire fighters and police returned to the site this morning and retrieved a body with the assistance of the Thames Valley Police dive team. The body has not yet formally been identified, but the family of the missing boy has been informed. Photo by Keith Mayhew
