RM2YA5G72–The Supermarine Spitfire Mark III first flown in 1940, was an experimental prototype with Merlin XX engine, a retractable tail-wheel, clipped wings, a redesigned front windscreen, slightly longer fuselage and extra panels which fully covered the undercarriage when retracted. It was used as a test aircraft and pioneered the use of the Merlin 61 engine. The British single-seat fighter aircraft was used by the Royal Air Force and other Allied countries before, during, and after World War II. It was the only British fighter produced continuously throughout the war, albeit in many marks (versions).

RM2YA5G6D–A flight of Supermarine Seafires, a naval version of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter adapted for operation from aircraft carriers. The first operationally-viable Seafire, the F Mk.III variant became available in 1942, which led to widespread use with the Fleet Air Arm. It first saw combat in November 1942 during Operation Torch, the Allied landings in North Africa, then provided air cover for the Allied invasion of Sicily and Italy. During 1944, large numbers provided air support to ground forces during the Normandy landings, later joining the British Pacific Fleet.
