British delegation for the Saar plebiscite, 1934. Great Britain is the main contingent of the international force of the League of Nations for election observation and for securing the plebiscite in Saarland on the annexation to the German Reich. The troop is made up of a battalion of the East Lancashire Regiment and the Essex Regiment. Here they march under swastika flags through Saarbruecken, observed by the population.
