An Empire "C" Class Flying Boat on the "Horse-shoe" route in from Durban, tocuhing down on the Nile at Rod-el-Farag, near Cairo at sunset. The Short Sunderland "Hythe" was a variation of the successful flying boat, that had unparalleled passenger comfort on long-haul flights. and the "C" Class flew the route between Durban, Lake Victoia Nyamga, Cairo and Calcutta, known as the "horse-shoe'.
