The scene of the gritty movie "Rita, Sue and Bob too!" written by Andrea Dunbar and filmed on the Buttershaw Council estate, Bradford, West Yorkshire in 1987 starring Siobhan Finneran, Michelle Holmes and George Costigan with local people used as extras. May 22nd, 2017 sees the BFI release a 2k restored version of the original Super 16mm film of Rita Sue and Bob Too, by the late Andrea Dunbar, directed by Alan Clarke. Filmed on the Buttershaw Council estate in 1987 where Andrea was raised, these black and white images from 1982 portray the gritty surroundings of a typical northern working class sink estate. The Boulevard flats featured heavily in the film, although most of them were empty at the time and awaiting redevelopment. They are now gone.
