The Sefton Coast enjoys over 22 miles of coast and foreshore areas with a range of facilities and nature reserves. Access to the beaches varies by location and in some areas it may be difficult for pushchairs and wheelchairs to gain access. During the summer beach car parking is available at Ainsdale (PR8 2QB) and Southport (PR9 1RX), while at Lifeboat Road, Formby Point (L37 2EB) disabled access to the beach is provided from the car park. Only Formby, Ainsdale and Southport are designated bathing beaches and the Keep Britain Tidy’s Seaside Award recognises and rewards beaches in England that achieve the highest standards of beach management.
