Port Waratah in Newcastle is the worlds largest coal port. Coal from open cast coal mines in the Hunter Valley is exported around the world from here, especially to China. Australia relies on coal for generating around 85% of all its electricity in coal fired power stations. Australians individually also have the worlds largest carbon footprints.
