The construction of the Gothic cathedral in Narbonne started in 1272, but apart from the choir and transept, the building was never completed. The interior is decorated with stained glass, frescoes and Flemish tapestries. It stopped serving as a cathedral in 1801, when the Archbishopric was merged into the Diocese of Carcassonne. Seen here is a sculptural group of the Entombment of Christ in terracotta from Germany, dating from the beginning of the 16th century.
