Dai house at the Yunnan Nationalities Village near Kunming, China. Situated on the shores of Lake Dianchi 8 km south of Kunming, the Yunnan Nationalities Villages covers an area of 90 hectares. Built in 1992, the plan called for the building of villages of all the 26 nationalities in Yunnan Province. Here one finds replicas of the white pagoda of auspices in the Dai village, the magnificent three pagodas of Dali in the Bai village, the towering totem poles in the Yi village and the elegant painted murals in the Naxi village. There are also bright and colorful ethnic costumes and adornments, music and dance performances.
