Mourners in the Old Market Square, Nottingham, having just observed a minute's silence for 14-year-old Danielle Beccan. The teenager was shot and killed as she returned from a fair. The ceremony also called on the people of Nottingham to reject gun crime and gun culture. Nottingham has seen an explosion of drug and gun crime in recent years, leading the county force's chief constable, Steve Green, to comment that his force was being swamped by gun and drug crime in the city.
