Horst Buchholz died 3 March 2003 at the age of 69 in Berlin of a 'serious illness'. Buchholz was one of the few German actors to come to international fame and to succeed in Hollywood. Born on 4 December 1933 in Berlin, Buchholz debuted in 'Marianna' in 1955 and won a Cannes Film Festival award for his role in 'Sky Without Stars' that same year. His most famous parts include the quicktempered gunfighter-wannabe in the western 'The Magnificent Seven' (1960) and the anticapitalist beau in Billy Wilder's comedy 'One, Two, Three'.
