Giant anchor marks the quayside near to Conwy Castle in the market town of Conwy in north Wales beautifully situated on the banks of the river Conwy near Llandudno. The anchor was presented to the town by ex mayor Jack Williams who helped to rescue 400 American tourists who were adrift in their boat the St Trillo while returning to their cruise liner and tangling with the liners mooring rope. The anchor is from the naval training vessel HMS Conwy which was wrecked in the Menai Straits
