Galapagos Sea Lions are smaller than other sea lions nd breed only on the Galapagos Islands and on Isla de la Plata. They are 150-250 cm in length and weigh between 50 to 400 kg. They feed mostly on sardines and live in colonies with one bull and between five and twenty-five females. Only one pup is born to a female which will be weaned at around 11 months but the pups will be nurtured for up to three years. They are very vocal and social with no fear of man and are considered to be the welcome ambassadors of Galapagos. They are dark brown when wet but when dry will be many shades of brown.
