Paul Gray was a bassist in the rock band Eddie and the Hot Rods before joining the punk band The Damned in the 1980's Because of the noise he now suffers from Tinnitus, the hearing of sound when no sound is present. He also suffers from Hyperacusis a debilitating hearing disorder. A person with severe hyperacusis has difficulty tolerating everyday sounds, which become painful or loud.
