Gympie Courthouse is a significant landmark with its majestic clock tower dominating the town from its hilltop position. This historical example of early Australian architecture was constructed between 1900 and 1902, with the clock tower being added in 1945. The courthouse is an impressive one-storey brick building, decorated externally with rendered trim and the distinctive clock tower. It was designed by a prominent Scottish architect and public servant, John Smith Murdoch.
