This is the view of beautiful ancient church with a golden cupola on the grounds of Holy Trinity – St. Sergius Lavra (top rank monastery) from the colorful tent-like canopy. The Cathedral in the name of the Holy Life-giving Trinity was built on the grounds of the monastery in Sergiev Posad by Serbian monks in 1422-1423, right after venerated Sergius had been officially canonized by Russian Orthodox church as a patron saint of the Russian state. The attractive canopy over the cross-shaped fountain, which receives water from the spring, was built in 1872, almost on the middle of the main square of St. Sergius Lavra, not so far from the Chapel-over-the Well.
