Indian Paneer cheese known as Ponir or Indian cottage cheese, on sale in Chandni Chowk, an historical market famous for being one of Old Delhi's largest wholesale markets in India. The Paneer cheese is a fresh acid-set cheese common in the Indian subcontinent made from cow or buffalo milk. It is a non-aged, non-melting soft cheese made by curdling milk with a fruit- or vegetable-derived acid, such as lemon juice. Chandni Chowk is an historical thriving shopping area with markets full of spices, dried fruit, breads and cooked curries to name but a few. The offshoot narrow side streets are crowded with tiny shops selling essential oils, stationery and traditional Indian sweets.
