Revolution in Berlin: The Kaiser deputation in the great hall of the royal palace in Berlin on April 4, 1849: After the Parliament decided in Frankfurt that there should be a hereditary Kaiser at the head of the Reich, Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia was elected on March 28, 1849 with 290 votes (248 abstentions). On March 4th the king declared to a delegation from the Parliament, that he could accept the imperial title only with the consent of all the German princes. The final vote took place on April 28, 1849.
