Kaiyu-shiki (japanese strolling garden). Kinkaku-ji complex (which means "Golden Pavilion Temple") is the popular name of Rokuon-ji Temple, which means "Deer Garden Temple". It was originally built in 14th century as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and converted into a Zen temple of the Rinzai school, by his son. Kinkaku-ji is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, added to the Unesco World Heritage List in 1994. Kyoto. Kainsai (aka Kinki) region. Japan
