KANGAROO HUNTING, Australia. South West Australia. Kangaroos were originally shot because they compete with cows and sheep for valuable grazing land. However their meat has also become an important export industry. Kangaroos became a 'problem' because their natural predators - the dingos wild dogs - were exterminated and kept away by the installation of dog fences. With dingos gone, kangaroos multiplied unabated. Another example of unecological and unenvironmental farming, mass production for mass consumption.
