LAUNCH ROCKET IS READY FOR LIFT-OFF Scientists make last-minute checks to a rocket prior to the launch of China's historic space mission this week. The safety tests were carried out at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Gansu Province before a team of workers painted the mission's livery on the vehicle's side. The Long March-2F rocket is due to blast the Shenzhou 7 spacecraft - carrying three astronauts - into orbit on Thursday (25Sept08). During the five-day expedition, which will be broadcast live to the nation, the trio hope to undertake China's first ever spacewalk. (ZN/WN)
