September 2008. The Signpost Forest was started by Carl Lindlay in 1942 whilst working on the construction of the Alaska Highway. Lindlay was homesick, so he erected a signpost pointing to his home town of Danville Illinois. Today there are in excess of 60, 000 signs displayed here.
