LyondellBasell industries is a refiner of crude oil; a significant producer of gasoline blending components; a global manufacturer of chemicals and polymers, including polyolefins and a leading developer and licensor of technologies for production of polymers. The company's products are used worldwide in every day use. From fresh food packaging, clean fuels and durable textiles to medical applications, construction materials and automotive parts. The Wesseling site began operation in 1953 and today comprises more than 2.7 square kilometers. It is LyondellBasell's largest facility in Europe and has a production capacity of more than 2.2 million tons of plastics per year and employs 2200 people.
