More information:

The scientific name for the mandarin orange is Citrus reticulata. This is a reference to the segments of the classic mandarin orange which are easily separated. A number of mandarin orange cultivars come under this epithet, including tangerines, clementines, and satsumas. These citrus fruits all share the characteristic of thin, easily removeable skin and dividable segments. These evergreen citrus trees can grow up to 25 feet (seven and a half meters), and have characteristic glossy green foliage with sweetly scented small white flowers.
