May 05, 1956 - Submarine In Collision. Photo shows The submarine Talent (on left), showing her damaged superstructure - after returning to Gosport yesterday. She was damaged on Tuesday when a merchant ship ripped into her conning tower when travelling at periscope depth in fog off the Isle of Wight. Efforts to trace the merchantman have failed. Her skipper probably does not know he hit the submarine.
