More information:

Beckingham Village has a population of around 380, Beckingham is situated about 6 miles East of Newark (Notts) in the county of Lincolnshire, just off the A17 between Newark and Sleaford, surrounded by wonderful countryside. The parish covers about 2, 000 acres and includes the hamlet of Sutton, about one mile south of the village of Beckingham. To find us click here for directions. The village has a local pub The Pack Horse Inn, were you can enjoy real ales and fine food. We also have a 1st class restaurant The Black Swan Bistro serving excellent, award winning food. The village dates back to Roman times, although not mentioned in the Doomsday book, the settlement of Holme is mentioned, (now Holme Spinney) the boundaries of which included Beckingham, Fenton and Stragglethorpe. There are also many interesting buildings and features such as our church, All Saints, parts of which can be dated back to Saxon or early Norman times. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking and spotting wildlife, especially along the river Witham, which runs along side the village. If you are thinking of walking then the national grid reference is SK 8753. You may want an Ordnance Survey Explorer map, which has a scale of 2.5 inches to the mile.
