A specimen copy of the new identity smart cards for asylum seekers is displayed outside the Home Office in central London which were being introduced, in a bid to cut down on fraud and illegal working. * Every new asylum applicant will receive a smart card carrying his photograph and fingerprint information. The Applicant Registration Cards, or ARC-cards, are the same size as a credit card and a much more difficult to forge than the old form of identification, the Standard Acknowledgement Letter.
