Doherty and Johnson studied farming for years in on the east coast before moving to Minnesota. They have owned the farm for seven years. At first, the conventional farmers fretted there would be too many weeds, but after a year the neighbors all came to say ''hello.'' The farm has 1 1/2 employees.
