More information:

While apparently still in production while this photo was taken, activities at this site are believed to be moving to a new Rolls Royce factory in Washington. The new facility will manufacture fan and turbine discs for aircraft jet engines.

In 1911 it expanded into aircraft manufacture, and later into electricals and railways. After World War II Vickers-Armstrong made commercial aircraft, including the VC10 jet in 1959. In the 1960s parts of Vickers were nationalised, and in 1999 the rest of the company was acquired by Rolls-Royce.
