The Yamnushka (Stoney word to describe the cliffs) rocky wall visible from both highways, 1 and 1A on the way to Canmore. This image is taken while driving the 1A route crossing the native indian territories. In 1961 the Stoneys requested it be renamed to Mount John Laurie to honour John Laurie, teacher and the founder of the Indian (First Nations) Association of Alberta.
