"Belkacem wants to abolish prostitution AFP Updated 24/06/2012 The Minister of Women's Rights, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, France wishes to see "empower themselves" to abolish prostitution, announcing a "consensus conference" on the subject, in an interview with Journal du Dimanche. "The question is not whether we want to abolish prostitution - the answer is yes - but give us the means to do so, " said the Minister. "I'm not naive, I know it will be a yard long, " she says, recalling the "abolitionist position" of the PS which is "the fruit of a reflection on lessons learned from the shortcomings of current devices ". Recalling the vote by MPs in 2011 of a resolution calling for penalizing clients of prostitution, Vallaud-Belkacem ensures that the interior minister Manuel Valls and she "will not remain inactive on this issue". "For all the consequences of the resolution of the National Assembly, we will organize a consensus conference, " she adds without further details"
