JANUARY 10TH : On this day in 1957 Harold Macmillan became Prime Minister after Sir Anthony Eden resigned. Mr Harold MacMillan sits among the empty chairs in the Cabinet Room at 10 Downing Street. The new Prime Minister was deciding upon the men to occupy the seats as the Ministers in his Cabiinet.
