Portrait of children who are working by collecting plastic waste at Pondok Kelapa public cemetery in East Jakarta, Indonesia. Some of them work on daily basis; mostly by offering service of grave cleaning._In 2005, according to the Country Reports of Human Right Practices released by U.S. Department of State, there were 46, 800 street children across 21 provinces in Indonesia. A study commissioned by UNESCO in the same year in three major cities in the country—Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya—found that the children surveyed worked as street singer, beggars, scavengers, shoe polishers and street vendors. The children surveyed said that the main constraints for continuing education were the household economy. Their parents have an attitude and preference on work than on education for their children._UUD 1945, the Indonesia's State Constitution, has stated that everyone has a basic right to get education to enhance their well-being and quality of life.
