Portrait photo circa 1910 of Andrew Carnegie (1835 - 1919). Carnegie was a Scottish-American industrialist, entrepreneur and philanthropist and one of the most famous leaders of industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He emigrated to the USA as a child and later built up Pittsburgh's Carnegie Steel Company which was later merged with other companies to form US Steel. In later life he used his vast fortune for philanthropic causes and he also built and owned the famous Carnegie Hall concert venue in Manhattan, New York City.
