Work continues at Potters Bar station, north of London, where engineers are hoping to remove the fourth carriage of the train, which is wedged under the canopy of the station. Seven people died in the accident, which is now believed to have been caused by points failure. * .... The investigation has so far established that nuts missing from key bolts caused a track stretcher bar to fracture and derail the train.

RM2Y72DEE–Two expresses with hundreds of passengers narrowly escaped disaster last night when a surburban train crashed into the platform at Potters Bar Station, near London. The King's Cross - Newcastle express ran into the wreckage. Another express from Bradford to London was pulled up just clear of the wreckage. Workers are trying to clear the wreckage at the scene of the crash. 11 February 1946
