The skull is a bony structure that forms the head of the skeleton in most vertebrates. The spinal cord is a long, thin, tubular bundle of nervous tissue and support cells that extends from the medulla oblongata in the brainstem to the lumbar region of the vertebral column. The rib cage is an arrangement of bones in the thorax of all vertebrates except the lamprey and the frog.
