The spire of St Helen's Church can be seen and also the 18th century Tomkins Malt House (now an architect's design studio) which was sited by the river which provided a transport artery for distribution. Abingdon was situated in the county of Berkshire, but under local government re-organisation in 1974 it was transferred to Oxfordshire.
