Service on July 25th, on St James Day at the altar of Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. After incense put into the Botafumeiro, the famous censer, the world's largest. This heavy censer is swung by a rope pulley system by eight red robed men. Thousands of visitors and pilgrims gather in Santiago de Compostela to celebrate St James Day. July 25th is St James Day, the patron saint of Spain. The cathedral is the reputed burial-place of St James the Great, one of apostles of Jesus Christ, and the patron saint of Spain. The cathedral is the famed goal of pilgrimages throughout Europe, the Camino de Santiago, to this spot in Galicia in the north west of Spain. © Paul Quayle / Axiom
