The defender of Khartoum for nearly a year after being sent to the Sudan to assist the Egyptian army who were dealing with the Mahdi rebellion.He was killed in Khartoum three days before a relief force reached the city for which the governemnt of the time, led by William Gladstone, was sverely critcised. Created by Sir William Thornycroft, Gordon is shown holding a cane and a bible.
