Swanston village, Fairmilehead, Edinburgh, ScotlandMore information:
Swanston is one of the beautiful villages of Edinburgh, Scotland. The village is only five miles from the city centre at the foot of the northern slopes of the Pentland Hills near to Hillend dry ski slope. The footpath in the foreground gives unrestricted access to the northern side of the Pentland hills. It was a favourite spot of the poet Edwin Morgan. Robert Louis Stevenson spent his summers here from 1867 to 1880 in the 1870s, as a result of his father taking out a lease for Swanston Cottage. Stevenson set his novel St. Ives in this village.
