The statue of Perun, who had been chosen as the supreme deity of the Slavic pantheon, was torn down from a hillside overlooking Kiev and thrown into the Dnieper river. Vladimir then exhorted the residents of his capital to the Dnieper river for baptism.

RMF1KYJ5–Saxon Chief Widukind, leader of the Saxons surrendering to King Charlemagne in 785 AD. According to legend, Widukind experienced a vision that led to his conversion to Christianity after he was captured. He was interrogated and confessed to spying on Charlemagne's camp for the purpose of becoming better acquainted with the Christian faith. He later confessed the divine vision he had seen. The emperor concluded that God had given Widukind the grace of witnessing the divine child, Jesus, behind the Sacred Host of the Mass. Widukind then renounced his worship of pagan idols.

RMMC6MGW–SAINTS - CLOTILDE Saint Clotilde, was a Burgundian princess, born about 475 AD, who married the warring pagan King, Clovis. Clotilde succeeded in converting him - a conversion which was completed when his prayers 'to the God of Clotilde' were answered. In consequence, he was baptised. The imagery to the left, in this picture, shows the baptism of Clovis (one notes the practise of total immersion) on Christmas Day 498, by Saint Remigius, bishop of Rheims. When Clovis died, in 511, Clotilde retired to serve at St. Martin's basilica, at Tours. She founded and built many churches in France,
