More information:

To the most northern part of Syros, we meet Apano Meria, an area of magnificent natural beauty, an authentic rural Cycladic landscape dotted with dry walls, footpaths, stoned built country houses and small white washed churches. Most of them are sacred pilgrimages for locals and their festivities hold place during summer. From the high steep rocks, the view to the Aegean sea is amazing also to the breathtaking northern beaches of the island. Each one of them reveals an earthly paradise. They have all maintained an intact natural beauty, since are accessible only by steep footpaths or by sea. The Aegean Civilization was born also here, in Apano Meria. The plateau of Chalandriani and its neighbouring rise, Kastri, are places of legends and traditions. Remaining ruins of the early copper era and archeological excavations at Kastri brought to light numerous artifacts of the Cycladic Civilization of the 3rd millennium B.C. , city walls of that period as well as the famous Cycladic statuettes
