The Duke of Bridgewater boathouse on the Bridgewater canal at Worsley, Greater Manchester. The Boat House is a grade II listed building dating from the early/mid 19th century. It was built by 1st Earl of Ellesmere, a descendant of the 3rd Duke of Bridgewater who financed the construction of the canal to carry coals from his local mines to Manchester. The boathouses's original role was as a home for the Royal Boat that carried Queen Victoria along the canal when she visited Worsley in 1851. The structure is one of numerous grade II listed buildings which stand in the Worsley Village conservation area.
