At The Gallery of Fashion, launched in 1794, Wilhelm Nicolaus Heideloff wanted to demonstrate the superiority of the English over the French fashion. That was decenter and sometimes very bulky. The three ostrich feathers on the turbans on display a colored etching from 1794-95 that the ladies of high birth were: as a symbol of the Prince of Wales they were required in the introduction to the court.
