More information:

The Green Mill Tavern in Chicago's Uptown Neighborhood has been in continuous operation since 1907 when it originally opened as Pop Morse's Roadhouse and changed names to Green Mill Gardens in 1910. Gardens was dropped in the 1920's. During Prohibition The Green Mill was a speakeasy owned in part by Jack "Machine Gun" McGurn, an associate of Al Capone who was known to frequent The Green Mill. Several tunnels (now blocked) still exist under the bar that provided escape routes to nearby buildings during police raids. Over the years The Green Mill has hosted famous jazz musicians such as Billie Holiday, Al Jolson and Texas Guinan.
