The Long Lines, new telephone cable laying ship. Leaving Baltimore recently to begin paying cut special armorless cable that will provide the first direct telephone cable link between the United States and Great Britain. The 3500-mile cable will connect Tuckerton, New Jersey with Widemouth in Cornwall. It is designed to handle 128 simultaneous two-way telephone conversations.
