The new Arndale Shopping Centre, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, 1969. The new Arndale Centre in Doncaster opened in 1969. The new generation of shopping centres was set to revolutionise shopping in the same way that the development of the supermarket did in the post war years. This new development in Doncaster has undergone a few refurbishments over the years and the name C&A no longer appears in the UK. Boots and British Home Stores still occupied the same shop units some forty years after the photograph was taken.
